4. Our member schools are mostly private SEVIS-approved Christian schools
KoAm understands and values the pivotal role that the schools play for a successful student exchange program. We place our students in private Christian schools, as we believe in the importance of impressing strong morals and spiritual values on our students. We recognize Christianity as providing the main founding principles upon which America was built. Our students are asked to participate in all of the school’s religious activities and to attend church with the host families. Most importantly, our schools provide a safe educational environment where our students feel welcome and are able to develop lifelong friendships.
KoAm’s member schools are SEVIS-approved as KoAm's exchange students come to the United States under the F1 student visa program. The schools must follow the legal requirements set by the U.S. government. We actively communicate with the schools about potential exchange students and help our schools work with the SEVIS (Student Exchange Visitor Information System) process providing I-20 information doc, reminding to register, and providing guidance throughout the student’s stay.
5. We have students from 4th grade to 12th grade
Usually, most of the exchange students are high school students. However, from the educational research and experience, we have discovered that from 4th grade on, a child can start to learn a secondary language effectively. The students who are 4th through 8th grade are more likely to reap the full benefit of experiencing different cultures, because they are in the growing stage, actively learning from the environment that they are provided with. They also start to form their dreams and perspectives. Their tongues are still pliable, allowing them to easily learn new languages. You'll enjoy and witness the growth and development these students go through under your love and care. Therefore, in addition to the usual age group of 9th through 12th grade exchange students, who also share wonderful perspectives of another culture with our American schools and families; KoAm has added the younger age group.
